Ammo Children's Literary Festival 

The first edition of Ammo Children's Literary Festival, organized by Grade 10 students of Hummingbird School, Majuli, Assam, was an annual 3-day celebration of storytelling, reading, and creative expression, that took place from December 21st-23rd, 2024. Meaning "seed" in the Mising language, Ammo aims to nurture imagination and curiosity among children in Majuli's remote community, bridging the literary gap through storytelling sessions, workshops, and interactive performances.

Panels and Plenaries

Bringing together authors, illustrators, educators, children and other children's literature enthusiasts to delve deeper into the relevance, status and path forward for children's literature in Northeast India.

Workshops

Poetry writing, Storytelling, Illustration, Theatre, Crafts, Dance and Choreography etc. for children to explore various avenues of engaging with literature. 

Cultural Events

Open Mics, Musical Night, Traditional Dance and other performing arts to understand the rich oral and performing arts history of literary work in Northeast India.

Competitions

Poetry, Theatre, Story telling etc. to nudge and nurture the creative and expressive faculties of children.

The 2024 Ammo Literary Festival

saw a footfall of over 1500 children and other community members over the 3 day event. The event was supported by the generous donation of Mising Autonomous Council, TMPK, and countless individual donors and lovers of literature.
